Short Biography
- Professor received his MD from Istanbul University. He completed his postdoctoral studies in St. Louis University School of Medicine/Liver Centre, St. Louis/MO, USA.
- He studied particularly in fatty liver disease, viral hepatitis, inflammatory bowel diseases (crohn’s and chronic ulcerative colitis) biology and therapeutics for 20+ years, during which time he has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed research articles and one book chapter and one book/published in NY 2008 and 2009.
- Currently, Prof. Conducted 7 phase 3 clinical trials: 2 NAFLD FATTY LIVER and 5 Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, crohn’s and CUC.
- He performed basic science research, animal research in NAFLD&NASH. MO, St. Louis, USA.
- He has served on the editorial boards for the journals and referee for “Gastroenterology”, “Hepatology”, and The American Journal of Gastroenterology.
- He is a member of The American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) and The European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL).
- He was awarded twice by AASLD (1998/2002), once by EASL (2009) and once by FALK, Germany 2010.
- His main research areas: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), nonalcoholic fatty liver disease/NAFLD, echoendoscopy (EUS), advanced endoscopic procedures, RF ablation for HCC and fibroscan
